Briefing of Construct Set image

We started the day with watching a presentation on the tasks we were asked to do over the review week, each task one image came up and was projected onto the board, we were asked to say a little something about why we choose this as our Iconic image.
We were told that the second task we fulfilled over the last two weeks will be dissucussed later in the day. Task three was to get ourselves into groups of five or six and write our names in a new group on the board.
The people in my group are Ashleigh Wright, Ian Turner, Nikita Shergill, Jon Phipp and myself. We managed to be put ourselves into group two which means instead of being last like in the first semester we are fairly spread accross the timetable.

The brief did last a few hours and it didnt take long before we all began to discuss the themes we were given. The themes given were:
-Folkstories and Folklore
- News and current affairs
-Film, stage drama or iconic actors
-Music (Classic or Contemporary), Music video or iconic musicons
- Art and Artists
- Litereature and authors

I would say it was more of a debate between  them all but after much deliberation we had narrowed it down to either Film or Literature. We also disscussed nursery rhymes which linked us to the topics of literature. I suggested Fairy tales and fables to be a good choice which led us all to agree on combining both Literature and film. We have the past two days been trying to research fairy tales way back to when they were first recorded.
In the tutorial we had tuesday we were given a couple of references to look at, an idea of portraying fairy tales in a dark grown up world work well as originally Fairy tales were aimed at the older generation.
We all discussed about using tales such as Little Red Riding Hood in a dark cape with the ake and head of the wolf, we also disscussed Rupunzel how her long hair could have wrapped and strangled herself or othert charcters in the tale, The Three Little pigs, masked models eating the meat of the wolf. These ideas really opened us up to what we could produce for our image.
we have been looking at The Grimm Brothers, who were known for speaking to the older generation and taking down and twisting the storys they heard all recored in a book. The Grimm tales date all the way back and are known for their horificly graphic storie3.
Moving forward in time the stories have been re-written and aimed at childrenn as Disney has created a 'child friendly' version of the stories however keeping the elements and characters.
We all listed as many Fairy Tales as possible and made a short list of of our faviroute. We went away individual with two TYales each to research, read and learn aqbout thwe original stories and compare it to the modern version we have  today.
We later disscused with our group what we had learned and was able to narrow down which Tale we would like to take forward. After a long deliberation between Rupunzal and Snow White we agreed upon Snow White, and have since been able toprepare a five minute presentation witht he research and ideas we have come up with, ready for presenting it Friday morning.
